A coffee with exceptional flavour and a meaningful impact.
This fully washed micro-lot is grown between 1,900 and 2,100 metres on the Wanale Ridge of Mount Elgon, Eastern Uganda. It comes from a small community of farmers working with Zukuka Bora Coffee Company, an organisation dedicated to improving livelihoods through quality-focused coffee production. A portion of the purchase price of every bag goes directly back to the community, funding projects including clean water schemes, education sponsorship, farming support and health initiatives. These programmes are delivered through JENGA Community Development, an NGO that has supported the region for almost twenty years.
Mount Elgon’s volcanic soils, high altitude and reliable rainfall create ideal conditions for specialty Arabica. Coffee has been cultivated on this mountain since the 1920s, and today, renewed investment in quality is helping farmers regain recognition and earn sustainable prices for their work.
Processing Method
Only fully ripe cherries are selectively hand-harvested and sorted by density. The cherries are pulped, washed and dried slowly on shaded raised beds for around 21 days. After drying, the coffee rests in parchment before hulling, sorting and grading for export.
Expect a clean, bright cup with citrusy orange acidity and a smooth white chocolate sweetness.
A coffee that tastes good and does good.
