Poda are redefining what Sumatran coffee can be. Working exclusively with smallholder farmers in the Dairi highlands (Sitinjo, Sumbul & Sidikalang), they focus on quality, traceability and fair pay at every stage of production.
Led by community leader Samuel Sihombing, Poda helps farmers form organised groups, access agronomy training, and gain financial independence through community-run savings and loan schemes — breaking reliance on middlemen and building long-term stability.
Farmers are paid above market prices for ripe, selectively picked cherries, and part of that premium is reinvested into the group, funding low-cost finance and future growth.
Processing is carried out locally using a 24-hour fermentation and wet-hulling method, bringing out the region’s signature wild, earthy intensity — elevated here into a uniquely vibrant cup. All hand-sorting is proudly carried out by women from the surrounding villages.
What to expect in the cup
Bold and complex with deep chocolate richness, vibrant orange brightness and a long, distinctive finish of cedar and smoked pineapple.
