Guatemala Jabiru
Tasting Notes: Butterscotch • Green Apple • Dark Chocolate • Cranberry
Grown in the high mountains of Huehuetenango, Guatemala Jabiru is a beautifully balanced coffee that combines rich sweetness with bright fruit character. Expect smooth notes of butterscotch and dark chocolate, complemented by crisp green apple acidity and a vibrant cranberry finish.
This coffee is produced by a group of smallholder farmers in the Union Cantinil municipality, where farms average just 1.5 hectares in size. The combination of high altitude, fertile soils, and careful processing creates a clean and expressive cup that showcases the best of this renowned coffee-growing region.
The lot is made up of Bourbon, Caturra, Typica, and Catuai varieties grown between 1,500 and 1,800 metres above sea level. Once harvested, the cherries are fully washed, helping to highlight the coffee’s clarity, sweetness, and complexity.
Huehuetenango is one of Guatemala’s most celebrated coffee regions. The remote mountains surrounding the city provide ideal growing conditions, with warm daytime temperatures and cool mountain air helping the coffee cherries mature slowly and develop exceptional flavour. Many producers in the region farm just a small plot of land, with coffee providing an important source of income for local communities.
The result is a sweet, approachable, and beautifully balanced coffee that shines whether brewed as espresso, filter, or cafetière.
