How to Brew Coffee with a V60 (Pour-Over)
Share
The V60 is a classic pour-over brewer that gives you a clean, bright, and aromatic cup. It’s perfect for highlighting the delicate flavours in single-origin coffees and offers total control over your brew.
⸻
What You’ll Need
• A V60 dripper and filter papers
• Freshly ground coffee — choose our Filter Grind on any of our coffees
• Hot water just off the boil (about 92–94°C)
• A kettle (ideally with a narrow spout for pouring)
• A mug or jug
• A timer
⸻
How Much Coffee to Use
• Standard recipe: 15g coffee + 250ml water (one mug)
• Scale up as needed: about 60g coffee per litre of water
⸻
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Prepare the filter
Place the paper filter in your V60 and rinse it with hot water. This removes papery taste and preheats your cup or jug.
2. Add the coffee
Put your ground coffee (filter grind) into the filter. Level it gently for an even bed.
3. Bloom
Start your timer. Pour just enough hot water to wet all the grounds (about double the weight of the coffee). Let it sit for 30 seconds to release trapped gases.
4. Pour
Slowly add the rest of the water in gentle circles, keeping the flow steady. Avoid pouring directly on the filter walls.
5. Drawdown
Let the water drip through naturally. The whole brew should take about 2½–3 minutes.
6. Serve
Remove the V60 and enjoy your clean, flavourful cup.

Pro Tips for the Perfect Brew
• Use fresh, quality beans — our coffees are roasted in small batches and ground to order for filter brewing.
• A gooseneck kettle makes pouring easier and more consistent.
• Adjust grind size: if the brew is too fast and weak, go finer; if it’s too slow and bitter, go coarser.
