How to Brew Coffee in an AeroPress

The AeroPress is a modern brewing device that’s become a favourite for coffee lovers around the world. It’s quick, portable, and versatile, producing a smooth, clean cup whether you’re at home, at work, or travelling.

What You’ll Need
An AeroPress
Freshly ground coffee — choose our Filter Grind on any of our coffees
Hot water just off the boil (about 92–94°C)
A stirrer or spoon
Paper filter (or reusable metal filter)
A mug or jug

How Much Coffee to Use
Standard recipe: 14–16g coffee + 220ml water
Adjust strength to taste:
For a stronger cup, use a little more coffee.
For a lighter cup, use less coffee or more water.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Prepare the filter
Place a paper filter in the AeroPress cap and rinse with hot water. This removes papery taste and preheats your mug.

2. Set up the AeroPress
Place the AeroPress on your mug or jug with the plunger removed. (For the inverted method, flip the AeroPress so the plunger is at the bottom and the open end is facing up.)

3. Add the coffee
Put your ground coffee (filter grind) into the chamber.

4. Add water
Pour hot water up to the top line (about 220ml). Start your timer.

5. Stir
Give the coffee a gentle stir to ensure all the grounds are wet.

6. Brew
Let it steep for about 2 minutes.

7. Plunge
Insert the plunger and press slowly until you hear a gentle hiss.

8. Serve
Enjoy as is, or add hot water for an Americano-style coffee.

Pro Tips for the Perfect Brew
Use fresh, quality beans — our coffees are roasted in small batches and ground to order for AeroPress.
Press gently — a slow, steady plunge gives the smoothest flavour.
Experiment with brew time and grind size if you want to explore different strengths and styles.
